Interactive sound games,  compositions for flute and electronics

Participation concerts is a concert series where the public does not play a passive role. First of all, the listeners can play along in the interactive sound games and be part of the music created together on  spot.  From the other side, the concerts try to help closer to habit of very attentive listening - since the actual concert experience is created always by the performers and public together -  the silent interaction and energy of listening is extremely important part of any good concert.

Five concerts will take place during the season 2014/2015. Each of them has its own subject or issue of sound that it tries to address and explain. Every concert consists of three parts: an interactive sound game, short lecture and compositions for flute and electronics.

To take part in the sound games, one needs to bring a smart phone or laptop (charged!) with. Installation of any extra software is not necessary. One needs just to go into local wifi network on spot, open a certain web page and follow given instructions. The web browser should support the html5 protocol, most recent versions of Safari, Firefoxi, Google Chrome, IE, Opera or Android Browser should do. The sound games are feasible for everyone, no previous musical education is needed. Just be ready to listen, imagine and react!

By every concert there is a short lecture or introduction, led by Tarmo Johannes and Tammo Sumera that enlightens some aspect of sound, acoustics or sound synthesis, how the sound game was built up and the background of composers and pieces of the program.

In the real "concert" part of the evening Tarmo Johannes (flutes) and Tammo Sumera (live electronics, sound diffusion) will perform chosen pieces by numerous bright, interntationally well known but in Estonia very scarcely heard composers like  Marco Stroppa, Pierre Jodlowski, Yannis Kyriakides, Peter Ablinger,  Alvin Lucier,  Kaija Saariaho, Enda Bates, Roman Haubenstock-Ramati / Bernhard Lang, Michel van der Aa and others.

The concerts take place in the hall of   "Kinokohvik Sinilind", Tallinn, Müürivahe 50, on the last Monday of every Month at 19.00
